The Category CSV is an easy way to set the category for all of your products at once.
Step One
Download your CSV
The CSV contains all of your products, even those that are not Public or not For Sale.
Step Two
Open the CSV. Notice that it contains nine columns:
- A. SPIN
- B. product_title
- C. shop section
- D. is_public
- E. product_for_sale
- F. category
- G. subcategory
- H. custom_category
- I. variant_enabled
- J. facets
Editing Categories
You will be entering data into columns F, G, and possibly H.
Column F should contain the text of the parent category. Column G should contain the corresponding subcategory for that parent category. These values are case insensitive and should be entered without any leading or trailing spaces or extra characters. You can download the full list of our categories and facets HERE.
Remember that we only allow subcategories. So, if you want your product categorized as Rings, enter “Jewelry” in column F and “Rings” in column G. If you want your product categorized in Jewelry, but you don’t think one of our existing subcategories applies, then enter “Jewelry” in column F and “Other” in column G. If you don’t think one of our existing parent categories applies, then enter “Other” in column F and “Other” in column G. If you enter "Other" as a subcategory, you must enter a value in column H. These values must be at least 3 and no more than 25 characters in length.
You can categorize any product in the CSV. You must categorize any product that is either Public or For Sale.
Editing Facets
You will be entering data into column J.
Facets are separated into Groups and Items. There can only be one Facet Item per Group per Category. For variant enabled products (column I shows you if they are), corresponding Facet Items will automatically be applied per enabled variant.
Example:
A | B...E | F | G | H | I | J | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | SPIN | ... | category | subcategory | custom_category | variant_enabled | facets |
2 | J5CUVULRI | ... | Miniatures | Trains | yes - scale | steam locomotive | |
3 | VVT946UDG | ... | Miniatures | Figurines | no | animal, 1:160 - N | |
4 | GDMFGU3GC | ... | Jewelry | Rings | no | 8.5/58 | |
5 | TTAPTDABA | ... | Tech | Cases | no | phones, protection | |
6 | E7U4TF6VK | ... | Other | Other | Trinket | no | |
7 | H8Q4TF6VK | ... | Miniatures | Aircraft | no | 1:200, airliner, bomber*, WWII, Britain | |
8 | 6ME4U28Q4 | ... | Games | Board Games | yes - scale | 1:24*, robot |
* Rows 1-6 are correct entries for facets. However, row 7 incorrectly applies two Facet Items from the same Facet Group (Type) and row 8 incorrectly adds a Facet Item from the Scale Group, when the product is already variant-enabled for Scale.
Step Three
Upload your CSV.
If the data you provided passed validation, your data will be immediately accepted and you will see a total count of affected products. If any of your data does not pass, you will see a variety of error messages. Follow the messages provided and repeat this process. It may take a few moments for the changes to become live on the site, depending on how many products you updated.
