What is the Amazon Integration?
The Shapeways Amazon Integration enables Shapeways products to be posted on Amazon and increase sales for our designers. Unlike our Shopify and Etsy integrations, it is not necessary for a designer to create their own shop. There is no action needed by a designer if their product is chosen to be posted.
Why are only certain products and materials chosen for Amazon?
We’ve chosen products based on their sales success on the Shapeways Marketplace as well as based on their printability metrics. This was done in order to offer the E-Commerce experience customers expect on Amazon and to avoid rejections and returns.
How can I have my other products added?
For your product to be eligible for Amazon, the product or model must have been printed successfully at least 3 times in any material family and must sell well on our marketplace (per our metrics). If you believe your product qualifies and would like it to be made available on Amazon, you can request it to be added by emailing us at storefronts+amazon@shapeways.com. However, we cannot guarantee if or when your product will be added.
Why is my product priced higher on Amazon?
There are a number of fees for selling on Amazon, including Amazon’s listing and integration fees. These fees must be added to the product price in order for Shapeways to offer this integration. The Amazon price includes your Shapeways marketplace markup and product shipping. If you change your Shapeways markup, the Amazon price will change accordingly. Please note that due to the technical implementation, changing your Shapeways markup will disconnect the Amazon and Shapeways integration temporarily, preventing your Shapeways sale until the markup is updated. Please note that all products sold through Amazon are printed via our Priority Manufacturing speed which also contributes to the final price.
How can I see my product?
You can search your exact product title on Amazon and you should be able to find its listing. Please note that it may take up to 24 hours from the time you were notified that your product has been chosen to be added to Amazon, to the time it is listed. If you are not able to find your product after 24 hours, please contact us.
Am I getting my markup on any Amazon sale?
Yes, you will receive your Shapeways markup for any Amazon sale in the same way you receive your markup from any Shapeways marketplace sale today.
Am I able to see how many times my product has sold on Amazon vs on Shapeways?
Currently, you will not be able to differentiate Amazon sales from Shapeways marketplace sales for your product. You will see the total number of times your product has sold in a pay period in the same way you see it today in your shop sales page.
You do receive an email, mentioning the username "storefronts_amazon", whenever one of your products is sold through Amazon. By searching your email for "storefronts_amazon" you can locate all the sales that were made via our Amazon Integration.
How is my brand represented on Amazon?
The first bullet point of every product added to Amazon will say “Designed by [your shop name]”. The brand name on Amazon must remain as Shapeways in order for it to be listed.
Why is some of my product content on Amazon not identical to my product content on the Shapeways Marketplace?
Amazon has policies that prohibit certain content in their listings, even if it may be allowed on the Shapeways marketplace. Specifically, it is not permitted to provide links or messages that prompt users to visit any external website or complete a transaction elsewhere. We will do our best efforts to comply with these policies which may mean removing hyperlinks or mentions of any sites outside of Amazon, including Shapeways, Youtube, or any other designer-specific websites.
What happens when I make any changes to my marketplace listing?
If you change your title or description on the Shapeways marketplace for any products listed on Amazon, it can take up to 24 hours for your changes to take effect on the Amazon listing. If you have not seen your changes updated in that time, please contact us at storefronts+amazon@shapeways.com.
What happens if I add or remove a material variant to an existing product that’s on Amazon?
- If you add a material option for your product on the Shapeways marketplace, it will not be added to Amazon until the model has been printed and shipped at least 3 times in that material family. This will also not happen automatically so if you’ve added a material and know it has been printed at least 3 times, please contact us at storefronts+amazon@shapeways.com to add it to your Amazon listing.
- If you remove a material option on the Shapeways marketplace, that option will be removed from Amazon as well in up to 24 hours.
I was part of the beta testing and some of my products are on Amazon with content different than the marketplace. How will those change?
The products added to Amazon as part of the beta program were curated to maximize their searchability and sales on Amazon, so their titles, descriptions, and bullet points may be different than your Shapeways Marketplace listing. These listings will not automatically update with your marketplace content so if you’d like to have it changed, please email us at storefronts+amazon@shapeways.com
Who can purchase my products on Amazon?
Products pushed through the integration are only available to Amazon customers shipping to the United States.
My product was chosen to be posted but I don’t want it on Amazon. What do I do?
Please email us at storefronts+amazon@shapeways.com with your request to take it down and the product title and we will take it down as soon as possible.
