Understanding Import Duties, Taxes, and Brokerage Fees
At Shapeways, we strive to minimize any import duties, taxes, or brokerage fees you may encounter. However, depending on your order’s destination, these charges may be applied upon importation. Please note that our shipping prices cover only the cost of carriage and do not include any additional fees. For more details, we recommend contacting your country’s customs authority or the carrier directly.
Shipping Process and Improvements
We are actively enhancing our shipping process to better serve major markets worldwide. All orders are shipped via UPS from our factory in The Netherlands.
Orders shipped outside the United States or European Union are typically declared as plastic or metal goods. Combined import duties and taxes usually range from 5–20% of the total order value. In some cases, carriers may also charge an additional brokerage fee.
Indicative Tariffs
To help you anticipate potential charges, here are the applicable tariffs for common materials:
- Plastic 3D Prints – HS Code 3926400090: 6.5% tariff

- Stainless Steel 3D Prints – HS Code 83062100: 0% tariff (however, a 15% additional tax may apply for bullion decoration objects).
