“Print It Anyway”: Is This Option Right for You?
At Shapeways, we strive to ensure that every 3D print meets the highest quality standards. That’s why we check every uploaded model to confirm it meets the technical requirements for your chosen material.
However, we also understand that sometimes you want to test a design as it is, even if it doesn’t meet all the standard guidelines. That’s where our “Print It Anyway” option comes in.
What Does “Print It Anyway” Mean?
Typically, when you upload a model, our team reviews it for factors like minimum wall thickness, structural integrity, and printability. If any issues are detected, your model may be rejected or require modifications.
With “Print It Anyway,” you can bypass these checks and proceed with printing exactly as submitted—no modifications, no guarantees.
What Are the Risks?
Choosing this option means you accept full responsibility for the outcome. Here’s what that includes:
- Your model will be printed exactly as uploaded, without adjustments.
- The print may have structural issues, such as thin walls, fragile sections, or missing details.
- If the print fails or is unusable, this voids eligibility for refunds or reprints.
When Should You Choose “Print It Anyway”?
This option is useful if you:
• Are prototyping and need a physical model quickly, even with potential flaws.
• Are confident in your design and believe the flagged issues won’t impact the final print.
• Want to push material limits and experiment with how certain geometries behave in real-world printing.
In What Materials Is “Print It Anyway” Available?
This option is only available for SLS – Nylon 12 [PA12], MJF - Nylon 12 [PA12], Nylon 12 Glass Beads [PA12 GB] and MJP Visijet.
When Should You Modify Your Model Instead?
If your goal is to get a high-quality, fully functional print, we strongly recommend reviewing and refining your design to meet our Design Guidelines before proceeding.
